Another update to Spell Defense?… after 6 months? Why? Because I’m a crazy person that’s why - and for those still playing or who might give it a shot, I want you to play the best version of it that I can provide.
With that in mind, this update is targeted primarily at players who might find the primary game loop too challenging. I’ve heard a lot of feedback that players get hyper-focused on building words and lost track of what’s going on in the battle. I’ve added more powers that automatically trigger when making words, so your wordplay has an even bigger impact on the battlefield!
5-letter words now stun all enemies for a few seconds; even bosses!
6-letter words still causes a lightning strike on all enemies, but they’re also stunned, too!
7-letter words not only cause stun and lightning-strike, but also heals your whole party!
On Normal difficulty, friendly characters do more damage and enemies do less damage to you.
On Hard / Merciless difficulties, enemies now occasionally come from the left - start making use of that new stun!
Fixed bug where on one level you could enter the same word over and over for infinite mana.
This Halloween, (trick or) treat yourself! Why slam trolls with a fireball when you can call in a spaceship, run them over with a car, or just finger-snap half of them out of existence? I’ve reduced the price of the Merchant’s spell packs to just $1.99 each, and I’m keeping the deal where you buy any 3 spell packs, I’ll give you the last one free.
As always thanks to everyone who has played the game and/or submitted feedback! Your ideas and bug reports (and complaints) directly contribute to my ability to make the game even better!
